Dashboard Warning Lights Explained (Every Symbol Decoded)

Every car has 20-30 dashboard warning lights. Knowing which are emergencies and which can wait could save you from a $5,000 engine repair or an unnecessary $200 mechanic visit.
Emergency Lights (Stop Driving Immediately)

The "Christmas tree" rule: If multiple warning lights come on simultaneously, it's almost always an electrical/alternator issue " — not multiple system failures. The alternator powers all electrical systems; when it fails, warning lights appear everywhere. Pull over and call for a tow.
